I'm Cai Danwen, participant of Auchan Executive Graduate Program. I started working in Auchan as a section manager trainee in the Beverage, during which I was guided by my SHIFU to learn all kind of daily work in store. I took over the section after one month, at the same time I started the whole selection process of the AEGP.
Except for the selection process, what my daily work in the store could be described into three parts: commerce, management and human resource. First of all, the most important thing we need to manage is the turnover, net sales margin and the number of customer of our section.
Our daily work includes making orders, negotiating with suppliers so that we could have our activities updated in time and attract more customers to go shopping in our store, analyzing sales data and making monthly commercial plans.
Secondly, it's our responsibility to manage our margin, not only sales margin, but net sales margin, as all said in the company that we are businessmen, our aim is to make profits. Besides, we need to manage our stock and stock amount, total markdown and bad stock of my section. Keeping a healthy way of operation of a section is our top mission here.
Last but not least, as a section manager, we are a leader of a certain team. We are supposed to know how to run a team, how to increase their working efficiency, how to communicate with them as a boss and as a friend. It's not easy to be a qualified section manager, but it's a challenge for me to make my foot stand in this company.
At the present, all the participants of the AEGP are carrying on a project to present next year, and despite all kinds of work in the store, I shall be stronger so that I could manage my project at the same time. Either way I wish I could be a really value for this company so I need to learn and grow fast so that I could adapt to all the new situation I will be put in.

When I’ve been asked where I wanted to carry out my project abroad I expressed the desire to see a reality outside the EU. I wanted to experience an international challenge and learn how to work with people from different cultures. What to say? Here I am!!!
Since the beginning of September I have been in Moscow working on my project regarding the supply chain. The aim of this project is not only to develop a new Transport Management System in Russia but also spread the know-how among the East European countries . This means to enhance significantly my knowledge in the supply chain field, but also have the possibility to develop an important cross country network. Today more than ever I can see that Schein’s words are truthful “Most of my important lessons about life have come from recognizing how others from a different culture view things.”
Once I arrived in Russia, all my colleagues welcomed me, providing all the information and the support that I needed in order to start my stay in the best way. Moscow is an outstanding city; there are no words to explain the breathtaking beauty of Red Square or the elegance and charm of the city center.
